Sweet Soy Milk - Sữa đậu Nành

Keeping warm with homemade SOY MILK! When I was little, my grandma and mom used to make soy milk all the time. No fancy equipment needed. Just need some love, patience and time. And some child laborers! 🤣😆😂🥛 It's one of those drinks that can be enjoyed iced cold on hot summer days or warm during winter mornings. It's a great source of potassium and low in calories! Just watch how much sugar you mix in.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz bag of soybeans

  • 1 Cup Sugar or To Taste

  • 4 Quarts/16 Cups Water

Equipment

  • Bowl

  • Blender

  • Strainer

  • Cheese Cloth

  • Spatula/ Ladle

  • Pot

Method (45-minutes)

  1. Soak soybeans in a bowl overnight.

  2. Blend half the soybeans with 1 quart/4 cups of water. Then the rest with another quart of water.

  3. The mixture will smell “green” like fresh grass.

  4. Pour mixture into the cooking pot and set on medium to medium high heat.

  5. Stir regularly or soybean particles will burn. Do not bring to a boil. It will take a minimum of 28-30 minutes. This is how long it will take to cook the “green” smell and flavor out of the soybeans.

  6. Strain in cheesecloth. Add 1 cup of sugar to strained and cooked soy milk. Soy milk can be left alone and sugar can be added when drinking to individual taste buds! Enjoy cold or hot!

  7. Keep in the fridge up to one week.
